VESPA CIAO PORTER (C-160)

This is one unique vehicle! Piaggio made quite a few different classes of vehicles including mopeds, scooters, and three-wheelers. Most of the three-wheelers Piaggio made were based on scooters, and used variations of the scooter motors. These mostly had large enclosed cabins that could fit one or two people inside. They had one wheel in the front, and two in the back, which is where they carried their loads. This is something very different. It is set up opposite from the scooter-based three wheelers, and it carries its load on the front, with the rider sitting in back. It uses a moped motor for power, and is as simple a vehicle as it gets. We know of very few of these in the US. Indeed, these are the sort of work vehicles that were typically abused and thrown away. This one happily avoided that fate. It is in remarkably good condition. It still wears its original paint, so it is clear that this three-wheeler led an easy life. Make no mistake, this is a tough little vehicle, and it can carry a surprising amount of cargo. We think this would look fantastic as a display, or for use in a vineyard or farmer’s market setting. It is the sort of thing that will get attention wherever it goes. As an added bonus, because it is a moped, it has all the advantages of a moped for registration and insurance purposes. This is an eye-catching, unique, and practical vintage vehicle. What a great way to advertise your business!

Mopeds enjoy special status here in California, which makes them especially attractive to own and use. Mopeds do not need yearly registration, and thus, avoid those annual fees. They also are allowed to park on sidewalks and lock up at bicycle parking.
