LAVERDA 750 S 1970 (D266)
A rare classic with limited production, the “750 S” is one of the most interesting of the 750 models. Notable details include an extended rake and long wheelbase that provides very stable and steady handling characteristics.
This first Sport model in the 750 range was introduced in 1969. Very few were manufactured before the model was replaced by the SF model in 1971. It features a unique tank shape and profile with the fuel cap situated off to the side. Front brake is the Grimeca version 2 with a neat air scoop. Producing 60 HP from the 750 cc twin the 750 S offers sporting performance.
This example comes to us from a longtime member of the Laverda Club Breganze in very clean condition. It has been carefully restored using original parts by Laverda experts including engine work by Riccardo Oro. Shows beautifully with a nice paint job in an eye catching factory original color.
Features the vintage style Smiths instruments and Bosch switches, headlamp with the unique rod toggle key. Fitted with low rise handlebars with an adjustable steering damper, dual mirrors and a right side shift. A comfortable sport seat provides a bit of stretch out room.
Overall condition is excellent and very original. Chrome bits in fine shape, many polished alloy components and very minor patina otherwise. Dual straight thru exhausts provide a symphony of excitement. A clean sharp and beautiful machine.
Given a thorough mechanical inspection and refresh by the team at Museo Moto Laverda, this Laverda starts readily and runs strong and handles well. Odometer shows only 17,668 miles (28,434 km) believed accurate but not confirmed. Braking performance is decent for a drum set up.
Laverdas emphasized top quality components and were built to last, with the engine and transmission being particularly robust. In “S” trim the 744cc motor developed 60 HP and provided contemporary performance with a top speed around 120 MPH.
On the road the 750 S is reasonably fast and very well mannered thanks to its original Italian race bike suspension. Super fun to ride, incredible tone and sound from the twin silencers.
A remarkable example of a unique Italian sports bike in excellent condition … a great addition to any serious collection and a real experience to ride.
