LAMBRETTA LAMBRETTINO MOPED 1961 (L-75)
An impressive restoration of a charming true Italian classic. Innocenti’s entry into the moped category features superb design and top quality. Superb overall condition, cosmetics and mechanicals, all in order. Excellent paint, good chrome, polished alloy and all details in place. Some very minor patina, but shows beautifully.
Features a 48cc 2-stroke engine, 4-speed gearbox, full front and rear suspension and brakes. Starts readily and runs very well. One of the best performing mopeds of its era. Classic style and charm.
It doesn’t get more charming that this moped. Innocenti made one of the top classic scooters, the Lambretta. However, that was not the only vehicle that they made. They also made cars, and as you can see here, mopeds. The market for mopeds in Italy in the 60’s and 70’s was huge. Virtually every motorcycle manufacturer in Europe made a moped of some kind just to get a slice of that market. Innocenti was no different. While their production numbers were not as large as some of the big names in mopeds, the Innocentis certainly had style. They had several different versions of their moped, and this is the first version, which was called the “Lambretta 48.” These are rare mopeds for sure, and we have not seen very many of these early Lambretta moped, and certainly not not looking this good. This one was restored in Italy, and is in fantastic condition. It just looks great all around. We can’t help but imagine riding it through a small Italian town on the way to the piazza… just looking at it transports us to another era. This is a seldom seen moped, and would be a great addition to a serious vehicle collection, or the “missing piece” of a Lambretta collection.
Mopeds enjoy special status here in California, which makes them especially attractive to own and use. Mopeds do not need yearly registration, and thus, avoid those annual fees. They also are allowed to park on sidewalks and lock up at bicycle parking.
