MOPEDS offer the fun and freedom of a bicycle with the added advantage of motorized power for hills and relaxed cruising. Piaggio/Vespa made some of the best Mopeds which offer excellent design and reliable performance. These awesome Italian 49cc mopeds are street legal and a great way to get around the city.

Bello Moto in SF Moped technology is a unique hybrid of Bicycle/Motorcycle produced by several European manufacturers from the mid-sixties thru the early 2000’s. Typically featuring 2-stroke engines under 50cc utilizing oil/gas premix, fitted with bicycle pedals to assist, single seats, package racks, and basic suspension and brakes.
These inexpensive motos were very popular until emissions regulations effectively banned their manufacture and stricter licensing requirements limited the youth market. Piaggio was the largest Italian manufacturer and their design, engineering, reliability and value led the category. Piaggio mopeds were branded “Ciao” and were produced with countless variations from 1967 thru 2006.
Mopeds offer the agility of a bicycle with motor-assisted performance and are capable of speeds up to around 25-30 MPH. Very inexpensive to own, with over 125 mpg, and can be parked anywhere you want just like a bicycle! Some models feature a “Variator” variable speed transmission that provides low gearing for hillclimbing and cruise gearing for higher top speeds. Weight is typically around 90 pounds and handling is very similar to a cruiser-style bicycle. Affordable, economical and fun to ride, a quality moped is a great way to get around the city.
An M1 license and helmet are required to operate a moped. Moped DMV registration is one time only for $23, no annual renewal or insurance necessary
All of our mopeds have been carefully sourced and inspected prior to purchase in Italy by our expert team. Each unit is then imported legally, serviced and reconditioned as required in our San Francisco shop.
