MODEL HISTORY

The simple and classic styling, lusty power and secure planted handling have made the Laverda 3C very desirable among collectors of Italian sporting machinery. A true premium example in superb condition.

The 1974 Laverda 1000 3C was the end result of a design process begun at Laverda in the late 1960’s by Massimo Laverda and chief designer Lucian Zen to produce a machine competitive with the latest Japanese superbikes. Development over several years refined the design and improved power and reliability. Introduced in 1973 the Laverda 1000 3C was a proven and advanced design. The fundamental features were an inline triple of 981cc sporting dual overhead cams and a 3-into1-into-2 exhaust. Power output was a solid 80 HP managed thru a 5-speed gearbox. The chassis was a robust tubular frame with a conventional fork and twin shock swingarm. The Laverda 3C was truly state of the art for the period and an impressive sport bike. The 3C continued in production thru 1981 with some minor detail upgrades including a rear disc brake. Overall production totaled approximately 2,300 units, with many modified or raced in the day, very few clean and stock examples still exist.
