This beautiful Alfa Duetto 1600 is a remarkable example of this iconic model which we have just imported from Northern Italy. This classic was discovered by our team in Italy in excellent overall condition cosmetically and mechanically. It had benefitted from a professional partial restoration in the past year. Our goal was to complete the restoration with an emphasis on originality and faithfulness to factory specification. Overall condition is superb and period correct, just as one would find on an Alfa Romeo showroom floor in 1967.

We addressed all necessary mechanical items to restore the car to original condition. Odometer shows 27,557 miles ( 44,350 km ), actual mileage is unknown. This car was first delivered to the Italian market and, as a European model, is fitted with dual Weber carburetors. These were removed, cleaned and adjusted before remounting. The alternator and voltage regulator have been overhauled. All wiring and electrical components, lights, indicators etc. have been inspected and repaired as necessary. The steering box was removed and rebuilt. All engine, gearbox and differential oil leaks have been eliminated. The cooling system has been checked and refreshed including the heater box. A new exhaust system has been installed. The engine starts readily, idles smoothly and revs with the vigor associated to the 1570cc version of the classic Alfa DOHC four. Clutch is brand new and transmission was inspected, road tested and deemed ready to go with no issues. Mechanically the engine, clutch, transmission and chassis, as well as all related components, now operate flawlessly. The Duetto rolls on original Alfa Romeo wheels fitted with new tires.

The body is straight and sound, no evidence of any prior damage or rust. The exterior shows to a very high standard. Paintwork is smooth and lustrous in a classic shade of white. Original plexiglass headlamp covers are fitted. All trim, lenses, bumpers and badges are in excellent condition. The entire folding top mechanism has been gone thru and rebuilt. A brand new, fine quality top has been installed. The boot compartment has been fitted with new seals and the trunk hinges have been adjusted. Chassis underside is remarkably clean, free from undercoating and shows clearly the excellent condition of the bodywork.

The interior features original high quality leatherette upholstery in the rich Rosso Amaranto shade with black dash pad and door accents. A thorough cleaning and detail operation was performed and all aspects of the dash, door panels, seats and carpets now show to a high standard. The original attractive steering wheel features three alloy spokes and horn buttons. An Alfa factory optional audio system looks right at home in the body color painted dashboard. Alfa’s trademark tall shift lever handles the selection chores for the 5-speed gearbox admirably.

This Alfa Romeo Duetto Spyder delivers all of the excitement and nuance for which the series is noted. The delightful chassis responds crisply to the accurate steering, the ride is supple and composed, the brakes are smooth and powerful and the engine sings a pleasant note with each snap of the gearshift.

No issues, no problems, all lightness and joy on the road.
