1965 LAMBRETTA 150 Golden Special (L85)

Very clean and original example of one of Lambretta’s most collectable models with some clean performance mods. This 150 Golden Special is a European model that has been recently restored to excellent condition, showing very well and ready to ride and enjoy. With very limited sales in the US, the Golden Special is a rare find here. Gold metallic finish is smooth and bright and the scoot features the cool “jet age” chrome flashes on the inset side cowls. Overall sharp exterior and sorted mechanicals. Mods include 186cc cylinder, 28mm Polini carb and Ancilotti exhaust. Odometer shows only 2,239 miles - TMU, but may be accurate judging by overall condition. Comes with FMI certification plate on legshield.

The 150 Special was introduced in 1963 as a sportier alternative to the standard Li 150. The compression ratio was increased from 7:1 to 7.5:1 giving the special 8.25 bhp (6 kW) over the standard 150's 6.6 bhp (5 kW). The biggest advantage for the 150 Special was its unique gear set. It had a close-ratio gearbox that allowed it to make the most of the motor’s power. The 150 Special also had some of the “luxury” features of the TV, such as a key ignition switch, and the sporty bodywork.

On the road, the 150 Golden Special is fast enough to be fine to use in normal modern traffic. It has good acceleration and reasonable top speed. The gearing is excellent, and the scooter accelerates well in second and third gear. This model offers a good balance of excellent styling, a bit of performance, reliability and collectability.
