This classic Moto Guzzi was one of several we purchased from a specialized Guzzi workshop in the Verona area. Very faithful to the original, fully reviewed and verified. Features a conservative restoration done over the last few years. Engine, electrical, chassis and braking systems checked and refreshed as needed. the Astore has been road tested and fully checked out. This vintage Moto Guzzi comes with copies of the original documents and an Italian license plate of the time period.
The Astore is an evolution of the G.T.V. model, born in 1934 as a touring model from the Mandello company, the Astore was presented at the 1949 Milan Motor Show. A popular success, the Astore was built by Moto Guzzi between 1949 and 1953. The aesthetics of the Astore are practically identical to the ancestor G.T.V., with a tapered, chromed tank and very protective leg guards. The unique and proven chassis, engine and transmission are quite innovative and advanced for the period and the Astore is a joy to ride.
This 1950 model featured many engineering updates from the first post war models. is fitted with characteristic Moto Guzzi classic details including enclosed valve springs and hydraulic dampers for the swingarm. Wheels have been redone and new tires fitted, but the bike is largely original.
Overall paintwork is in excellent condition. The shapely fuel tank shows beautifully with good chrome and original Moto Guzzi branded rubber pads and decals. The solo front saddle and the passenger pillion are new. Handlebars and all chromed controls are in good working order and great condition. There are twin lockable pannier compartments mounted to the rear fender.
The engine and running gear have been gone thru and refreshed as necessary. Fascinating details include the chromed meat slicer flywheel, separate oil tank, enclosed valve gear and a DellOrto carburettor. The period correct fishtail muffler emits a boisterous roar that evokes the period.
A rare find, still proud and handsome despite 73 years of age, this is a remarkable moto and a special addition to any serious Guzzi collection. This machine has a clean California title and registration, ready to enjoy.
