Ah yes, the Vespa faro basso… the one that started it all. In the beginning, when you saw a Vespa, this is what you saw. The un-complicated handlebars, the headlight on the fender, the smooth lines of the bodywork, oh yes, we like it! This is the last year for the faro basso (“low light” in Italian), before Piaggio moved the headlight to the handlebars for all Vespa production. This is the most fully developed of the faro bassos, and has the most harmonious body lines and most fully developed mechanicals of that line. This particular scooter has been restored in Italy back to original condition. It is in excellent condition both cosmetically and mechanically. This is the scooter you want to use to ride to the coffee shop. Picture Gregory Peck or Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday… you get the idea. It doesn’t get much more stylish!
